Hi there! Welcome to my blog, MIND OF HERS!
This has been a project in the works now for over a year! As I had been engaged for the past year I realized how essential it was for me to begin executing the ideas I had surrounding MOH. This is because my vision for MOH is a sense of an online community for like-minded Christian and traditional women of all ages.
I’m sure most of us can relate to not having more than 5 like-minded friends in real life that we can truly share our wholehearted beliefs, values, and faith with. Not only that, but go to them for advice, venting, and sharing things that interest you. If I ever do this to people in real life it’s either my husband (who is sick of hearing about anything involving womanhood!) or my mother who unfortunately, doesn’t live nearby.
I have been on the internet as a political commentator since I was 17 years old. This is the first time I will be not posting content that is politically driven and I am overjoyed! Political commentary is most likely how many of you found me originally. I was 17/18 and a ‘MAGA’ girl and a “black conservative”. I got invited to The White House (where I met my husband!), I worked with countless well known political figures, and I was able to meet amazing people from all over the country! Sounds like every girl striving to be a D.C politico gal dream, right? I thought it was mine too, but I always felt like there was something missing. I came to terms when I was 19 that there was something missing and that was learning what God truly wanted for me. I felt like I was selling my soul when I was working for conservative INC, because I was. I was being used to help gate-keep conservative INC’s neoconservative agenda and I had enough of it. I left neoconservatism and all of my political opportunities and sought what I had been missing. What I found was what I had been suppressing all along – biblical womanhood. Instead of striving to be the next political commentator parroting talking points men before me said or moving to DC and working for an organization that wasn’t truly America First, I found my entire soul on fire for God’s design and understanding the love he truly had for me.
‘But as for you, speak the things which are proper for sound doctrine: that the older men be sober, reverent, temperate, sound in faith, in love, in patience; the older women likewise, that they be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things— that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed.’Titus 2:1-5
I started my journey as a true follower of Christ and have never looked back! I am blessed to have a likeminded husband who leads our household and marriage with faith and supports the roles God has designed for me! He is always encouraging my biblical growth and ensuring that I never lose sight of God and I’ll never be able to thank him enough for all he continuously does for me. (No, I didn’t just write that because he is my editor!)
I hope all women who are Christian know they have a place of refuge here on MOH when the world seems cold, demonic, and scary – now more than ever!
My good friend and sister in Christ, RIley is also going to be co-writing with me on MIND OF HERS! I am beyond escastic that this can be a place for us to share our passion of biblical womanhood with like-minded women. Riley and I became friends in early 2018 when she found me on my YouTube channel! I remember answering her DMs on Twitter and we hit it off straight away. She is my go-to for all discussions on motherhood, marriage, and soci-politics. Whenever I am in need of Godly guidance and advise she is the first person I can go to and get God’s truth from and for that I will always be immensely thankful for her! Our journey to true Christianity came around a similar time which I’m so thankful for because we have been able to truly grow in our faith together. I’m happy to be able to introduce her here:
I am so excited to join my sweet friend Megan on this blog, MIND OF HERS!
I feel like so many of our thoughts are never fully studied or brought into fruition and only mangled and further confused by typing short and choppy comments on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. I hope this blog helps not only me, but you realize the value of fully articulating and realizing intellectual discussion.
I grew up in a conservative household and have always been searching for the truth from a very young age. i was always enthralled with politics, actually until fairly recently. After getting married and having two children, which matures you very quickly might I add, I became interested in other topics like holistic health and midwifery. It is through the controversial nature of both those topics that i realized that the left/right paradigm is futile and lacking a lot of intellectual honesty, nuance and moral guidance. Since then I have grown in my faith and in my relationship with Christ and studied the bible and found a lot of joy listening to theologians discuss God’s word. I now find true solace in the word of God and knowing His plans for me and my family. I have heard it said that life doesn’t come with an instruction manual, but I have to say, for me it is the holy bible and we live in an age where we are so blessed and fortunate to have the word at our fingertips at all times.
“Indeed the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two edged sword, piercing until it divides soul from spirit, joints from marrow, it is able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”Hebrews 4:12
Biblical womanhood has changed my life. I went from being in a somewhat constant power struggle with my husband to accepting my role which ultimately is NOT to lead my family but to nurture and care for them. Biblical femininity suggests women let go of pride and instead step into the roles they were intelligently designed for. I believe when both couples embrace the duties endowed to them by their creator, it creates a much less turbulent and sinful environment for marriages.
I so look forward to expanding and sharing in the delightfulness of biblical and traditional family life together and you can also expect some cultural and political commentary from me also!
To talk more about the content, we won’t be posting solely on this blog! We have an Instagram, IGTV, and Pinterest that there will be content on! There is a platform and content for everyone to enjoy!
We cannot wait to begin posting actively on all platforms to display our experiences and journey in this life! We love you all and if you have any questions or comments feel free to email, comment, or message us!
“Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”Philippians 3:12-15
